what are Pallet Trucks for?

Pallet trucks are an extremely useful type of tool. They are handling equipment used to move and transport loads on pallets. They are designed to transport and move loads with ease. It is a steel structure with forks that are inserted under the pallets and allow to lift and move the loads.

The main characteristics to take into account about pallet trucks are the following.

  • Load capacity: Each type of pallet truck has a specific load capacity, which is the maximum weight it can safely support and transport.
  • Adjustment capacity: Pallet truck forks are adjustable in width, which allows them to be adapted to the different pallet sizes that can be used, thus facilitating the handling of loads of different sizes and dimensions.
  • Operating lever: All pallet trucks are equipped as standard with an operating lever which is used to control and direct the movement of the pallet truck. Pushing or pulling the lever raises or lowers the load and moves it in the desired direction.
  • Wheels: Pallet trucks must have wheels to facilitate the movement of loads. These wheels are usually directional at the rear and load wheels at the front. The wheels can be made of different materials.
  • Braking system: Some pallet trucks may be equipped with braking systems that allow locking the wheels to keep the pallet truck in place to prevent unwanted movement.
  • Compact design: Most pallet trucks have compact and narrow designs that allow them to move better in tight spaces.
